About us

Hi, I’m Sharon, Founder and Chief Sustainability Officer of Purple Waves.

I opened Purple Waves to create a space where community and sustainability could thrive together. After more than a decade in this neighborhood and raising my two daughters here, I wanted to build the kind of place I was missing for my family: a warm, welcoming spot centered on good food, coffee, wine, and connection.

From the start, my goal was to show that a small, mission-driven business can stay true to its values while being financially sustainable, supporting fair wages, and investing back into the community.

What began as a café has grown into a local, low-waste market, café, and wine bar that makes sustainable living easier and more joyful. We are not perfect, but we keep learning and improving every day, finding better ways to reduce waste without compromising quality or convenience.

Purple Waves is still evolving with every neighbor who walks through our door. It is a place of peace, inclusion, and connection, a home away from home where people of all backgrounds can come together over coffee, wine, or a favorite local jam.

Everything I do is for my daughters’ future, and for all our children, to give them a real chance at a thriving life on our shared planet. Thank you for being part of our journey and for believing that small, local actions can create big waves.
